Fire Bloom Vase
In 1998, Emma Bossons created her first catalogue design, Spiraxia, a genus of flowering plants called the harlequin flowers, which featured burnt umber to cinnamon blooms with long scarlet-red pistils and stigmas. Like the shape of the flowers themselves, a star was born overnight. For the milestone 25-year anniversary of the Moorcroft Design Studio, Emma returned to the 98 shape that she transformed 25-years ago, and the harlequin flower itself.
Best QualityDesigner: Emma BossonsWith her trademark originality and design sophistication, the harlequin flower now flourishes among red admiral butterflies, that shadow the colours of the flower itself, as they flutter below small clusters of cadmium, deep-red, widely-funnel-shaped blooms, with marmalade-yellow centres, surrounded by black to dark red marks. Cabbage white butterflies join the design, their black eyes on white wings adding a rare delicacy of colour fusion as the design leaps from lipped buds and tightly clipped leaves to the red admiral before merging into the Fire Bloom of unsurpassed beauty.
"I was keen to incorporate butterflies into my design as Hugh always told me that I bring butterflies to life in clay - their delicate wings are far too light to be cast in clay but I spend hours drawing them in such a way that they could almost flutter off the vase." Emma Bossons FRSA.
